Our Mission

At REACH Youth and Family Theatre, we believe that theatre empowers children while helping develop their skills, confidence, curiosity, and imagination. We aim to create a supportive, dynamic, and inclusive learning community where each child’s individual self-worth, creativity, and talents are celebrated. Additionally, we encourage each child to contribute their gifts to strengthen and sustain the vibrancy of this community.  We aim to engage the region in live, family-friendly theatre, in addition to providing safe spaces for personal growth.

Why Live Theatre Matters

Live theatre and performance are at the bedrock of our existence. We know that engaging in a community theatre group can improve language, vocal, and speaking skills. But it also builds character.

An Experienced Team

REACH Theatre has an experienced team of leaders who bring decades of teaching experince both off and onstage. In fact, most of them are actors and actresses themselves, and their goal is to make every participant shine in the spotlight.

Executive Director Benji Cotter

Benji cotter reach theatre sioux cityTwenty-four years ago, a nervous, skeptical, self-conscious, 14-year-old Benji Cotter attended his first theatre class with a friend. There, his eyes, mind, and heart were opened to a brand-new world.

He had discovered an environment that catered to his creative imagination, and a group of kids who made noises, told stories, had too much energy, and were loud, wild, goofy, and silly, just like he was.

He had finally found his people and a way of life that allowed him to freely express himself; his true, quirky, artistic, original self. Thereafter, he no longer would have to keep all those “weird” qualities hidden. He was free!

From that time on, Benji has been entirely immersed into the world of theatre, not only as a performer, but also as a leader. In that role, he helps shape and guide countless young actors as they, too, seek opportunities to channel their own creative expression. In conclusion, it is Benji’s passion to share the art of theatre, and to bless, inspire, teach, guide, and encourage others to let their true, imaginative selves shine.
